In finance and banking, documents like reports, contracts, and compliance materials get referenced long after they're first shared. WeTransfer lets you send PDFs as a clean link, and with Ultimate you decide whether that link ever closes.
Share files that never expire
Finance and banking professionals often need shared documents to stay reachable for weeks, months, or well beyond a standard project window. WeTransfer sends every PDF in its original format, with no compression or quality loss, so what your recipient opens is exactly what you uploaded. Each transfer gets its own unique download link that anyone can open in a browser, no account required on their end. You can lock any transfer behind a password or restrict access to a named list of email addresses, keeping sensitive materials visible only to the right people. Recipients can also preview PDFs directly in the browser before downloading, which is useful when colleagues need to confirm they have the right version without pulling a file to their device.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry on any transfer or choose no expiry at all, so the link stays open until you decide to close it or delete it yourself. This is particularly useful for recurring reference documents in finance and banking, such as policy summaries, rate sheets, or compliance frameworks, where recipients may return to the same link over a long period. Free and Starter plan transfers expire after a maximum of three days.
WeTransfer encrypts all files using TLS during upload and download, and AES-256 while stored on its servers. Files are held on AWS infrastructure in EU data centers, and WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR-compliant. For finance and banking teams with compliance requirements, data processing agreements are available on paid plans.
Yes. You can add a password to any transfer so only recipients who know it can access the files. You can also enable restricted access, which locks the download to a specific list of email addresses, meaning anyone outside that list cannot open the link even if they have the URL. Both options are available on all plans and can be adjusted after the transfer has already been sent.
Yes. Recipients can open and read a PDF directly in the browser without downloading it first, which is handy when someone needs to confirm they have the right document before saving it locally. If a transfer contains multiple files, they can browse the preview and choose to download only what they need rather than pulling everything at once.
Once you upgrade to Ultimate, you can recover expired transfers within the recovery window, which covers files under 256 MB for up to one year after expiry and files over 256 MB for up to 90 days. This means PDF links that already expired may still be retrievable after you upgrade, which is useful if a document was shared before you moved to a paid plan and a colleague or client needs to access it again.
