Yes. With WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can remove the expiry on any transfer entirely, so the download link stays active indefinitely unless you choose to delete it. This is useful for standing reference documents, ongoing client relationships, or compliance materials that need to remain reachable on demand. Free and Starter transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days.
All files are encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256, and stored on AWS infrastructure in EU data centers. WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR-compliant, with Data Processing Agreements available for business plan customers. Your files are never viewed, sold, or used to train AI models.
Yes. You can lock any transfer with a password or use restricted access to limit downloads to a named list of email addresses, so only the intended recipients can open the files. Download tracking lets you see exactly who accessed the link and when, giving you an auditable record useful for regulated environments. Both features are available on all plans.
On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before you upgraded, so a missed deadline does not mean lost access. Recovery windows depend on file size: up to one year for files under 256 MB, and up to 90 days for larger files. Free and Starter users cannot recover expired transfers, so upgrading is the safest option when long-term availability matters.
