Yes. On the Ultimate plan and above, you can set a transfer to never expire, meaning the download link stays active until you choose to delete it. Free and Starter transfers have a maximum lifespan of 3 days, so for datasets, reports, or reference files that need to stay accessible long term, an Ultimate subscription is what you need.
No. WeTransfer does not re-encode, modify, or reduce any file during transfer. Your data files arrive exactly as they left your system, with every row, field, and byte intact. When you send multiple files together, they are packaged into a lossless ZIP archive, so no data is changed in the process.
You can restrict access to a transfer by specifying a list of verified email addresses. When the restriction is enabled, anyone opening the link must verify their email before downloading, and access is granted only if their address matches your list. For lighter control, password protection is available on all plans and adds a shareable code recipients must enter before they can download.
Yes. Download tracking is available on all plans and shows you who downloaded each transfer and when. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient once they complete the download, with an exact timestamp on hover. If you enable Tracked downloads under Access Control, anyone opening the link must verify their email first, and you receive a detailed notification for each download.
On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered within set windows after expiry: up to one year for files under 256 MB, and up to 90 days for files over 256 MB, provided the Recoverable option was enabled when the transfer was created. Free and Starter users cannot recover expired transfers, so if long-term availability matters for your workflow, upgrading to Ultimate removes that risk.
