Consulting and audit work runs on documentation that has to stay accessible, from engagement letters and financial models to compliance reports and due diligence packages. WeTransfer gives every transfer a unique download link and lets you decide whether it ever closes, so the files you share remain available for as long as the work requires.
Share files that never expire
Consultants and auditors need shared files to be there when a client or regulator comes back for them, whether that is days, months, or well past the original delivery date. WeTransfer puts expiry control in your hands, so you can keep a transfer open indefinitely or set a specific date that fits your engagement timeline. Every file arrives exactly as it left your machine, with no compression and no modification, whether you are sharing PDF reports, Excel workbooks, PowerPoint decks, or ZIP archives of supporting documentation. Recipients open the download link in any browser without creating an account, removing any friction for clients or counterparties who may be unfamiliar with the service. Password protection, email-based access restrictions, and download tracking mean you can keep sensitive materials within the intended audience and maintain a clear record of who retrieved each file.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can remove the expiry date from any transfer entirely, keeping the download link active until you choose to delete it. This is useful for long-running engagements where clients or colleagues need to retrieve a report or working file well after the original send date. Free accounts cap transfers at three days, so a paid plan is the right fit for files that need to stay accessible long-term.
WeTransfer lets you restrict a transfer to a defined list of email addresses, so only verified recipients can download the files. When someone opens the link, they are asked to confirm their email and access is granted only if it matches your list. You can update the access list after sending from your Transfers panel, which is handy if team membership changes mid-engagement.
Download tracking is available on all plans and gives you a clear log of who downloaded each transfer and when. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient's address once they have downloaded, with the exact timestamp on hover. If you use the Restricted access option, you receive a detailed notification each time a verified recipient retrieves the files, giving you an audit-ready record of document access.
No. WeTransfer transfers every file exactly as it left your machine, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no modification of any kind. Spreadsheets, PDFs, presentation decks, and ZIP archives of supporting schedules all arrive intact and fully usable. The only packaging WeTransfer applies is bundling multiple files into a zip for download, and that process is lossless.
On WeTransfer Ultimate and above, you can recover an expired transfer, including transfers that expired before you upgraded to a paid plan. Files under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry, and files over 256 MB for up to 90 days. The recovery option appears in your Transfers panel when a file is still within its window. Going forward, setting transfers to never expire removes this risk entirely for critical documents.
