Yes. On the Ultimate plan and above, you can set a transfer to have no expiry at all, meaning the download link stays active until you choose to delete it. That works well for approved drawings, reference geometry, or specification packages that collaborators and contractors need to access on their own schedule, long after the original send.
No. WeTransfer transfers files in their original condition, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no modification to file structure. A DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, or any other CAD format arrives on the recipient's end bit-for-bit identical to what you uploaded, including any embedded metadata, layer structure, or linked references.
You can enable restricted access on any transfer, which limits downloads to a list of verified email addresses you specify. Anyone who opens the link must verify their email, and access is only granted if their address matches your list. You can update that list after sending, so adding a new subcontractor or removing a former vendor takes effect immediately.
Yes. Download tracking lets you see who downloaded each transfer and exactly when they did it. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient's address once they download. For link transfers, you can enable tracked downloads, which require email verification and log each access, giving you a clear record across the project timeline.
On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered even if they expired before you upgraded to a paid plan. Recovery is available for up to one year after expiry for files under 256 MB, and up to 90 days for larger files. Free and Starter plan transfers cannot be recovered once they expire, so for long-running projects where file access needs to persist, a paid plan is the practical choice.
