Keep your RAW photos between you and the right people

RAW files carry everything from your shoot — unprocessed data, metadata, and color profiles that are yours to control. Add a password to any WeTransfer transfer before you share the link, and recipients must enter it before they can reach a single file. No app to install, no complicated setup, and password protection is available on every plan.

Keep your files private

Photographers sharing unedited RAW files need to know their work lands only with the people it was meant for, and a password is the simplest way to make that happen. When you upload your ARW, NEF, CR2, DNG, or any other RAW format on WeTransfer, a password field is right there in the upload window, ready before you hit send. WeTransfer never includes that password in the notification email it sends to recipients, so you pass it along through whatever channel you already use with that person. Your files arrive exactly as you shot them, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no resolution loss, so every bit of unprocessed image data stays intact. If you need to swap out or remove the password after a transfer is already on its way, you can do that from your Transfers panel without re-uploading anything.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

When you add your RAW files to the upload window on WeTransfer, you will find a password field in the transfer options before you click Transfer. Type in your chosen password, finish the upload, and recipients who open the link are immediately prompted to enter it before they can see or download anything. The password is case-sensitive and is never sent in the WeTransfer notification email, so you share it with the recipient separately through whatever channel you prefer.

No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as you uploaded them, with no re-encoding, no resolution changes, and no quality loss. ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, RW2, ORF, and other RAW formats all come through intact, preserving every bit of unprocessed image data, embedded metadata, and color profile information your camera recorded.

Once a recipient enters the correct password, they can preview supported file types directly in the browser without downloading first. WeTransfer supports in-browser preview for a wide range of RAW formats including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, RW2, and ORF, as well as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC files in the same transfer. The preview renders at a slightly lower resolution than the original, so clients can check the content and choose exactly which files they want to download.

No. Recipients can open the transfer link, enter the password, and download the files without creating an account or logging in. Only the sender needs a WeTransfer account.

Yes. Alongside a password, you can enable restricted access on any transfer, which limits downloads to a specific list of email addresses. Even if the link and password both reach someone outside your list, they will not be able to download. You can manage the access list from the transfer details page after sending, and changes take effect immediately.
