Share your presentations with password protection

Presenting your work to the wrong audience can be costly. WeTransfer lets you lock any presentation transfer behind a password before you share the link, so recipients are prompted to enter it the moment they open your transfer and cannot reach a single slide until they do. No plugins, no extra apps, and it is available on every plan.

Keep your files private

Sharing a deck before a pitch, a client proposal before a deal is signed, or internal slides before an all-hands requires more than a download link — it requires confidence that the right people are the only ones who can open it. WeTransfer builds the password field directly into the transfer window as you upload, and the password is never sent inside the notification email, so you pass it to your recipients through a separate channel of your choosing. PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF exports, and other presentation formats are sent exactly as they are, with no compression or quality loss, so embedded imagery, charts, and custom fonts arrive intact. Recipients can also preview supported formats in-browser before downloading, which is handy when someone needs to confirm they have the right version without saving anything to a shared device. You can add, change, or remove the password from your Transfers panel at any time after sending, without re-uploading the file.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

When you add your files to the transfer window, look for the password field in the transfer options before clicking Transfer. Type in your chosen password there, complete the upload, and recipients will face a password prompt the moment they open your link. The password is never included in the notification email WeTransfer sends, so you share it with your recipients separately, whether by message, phone, or any channel you prefer.

WeTransfer accepts any file type, so you can send PowerPoint files, Keynote decks, PDF exports, Google Slides exports, or any other presentation format with a password attached. Files are transferred without any compression or re-encoding, meaning your slides, embedded images, and custom fonts arrive exactly as you created them. Password protection applies to the whole transfer, so every file inside it stays behind the gate.

No account is needed to download a transfer. Your recipient clicks the link, enters the password you shared with them, and can then preview or download the files. The friction is limited to the password step, which is the point — it keeps the presentation away from anyone who does not have the code, without adding sign-up steps for the people who do.

Yes. Go to your Transfers panel, open the transfer, and you will find options to set, update, or remove the password without re-uploading anything. The change takes effect immediately, so if you need to rotate a password after sharing a deck or remove it once a meeting has passed, you can do that on the fly. Just remember to let your recipients know the new password if you change it, since WeTransfer does not notify them automatically.

Yes. On top of a password, you can also enable restricted access to limit downloads to a specific list of email addresses, or turn on download tracking so you can see exactly who opened the transfer and when. These options are available on all plans and can be set in the transfer options panel before you send, or adjusted from your Transfers panel afterwards. Together they give you layered control over who reaches a confidential proposal or unreleased presentation.
