When you upload your video files, look for the password field in the transfer options panel before clicking Transfer. Enter a password there, and every recipient who opens your link will be prompted to enter it before they can see or download anything. The password is never included in the WeTransfer notification email, so you share it with your client through a separate channel, such as a direct message or phone call, keeping the footage secure even if the link is forwarded.
No. WeTransfer transfers your footage in its original quality with no re-encoding, no compression, and no resolution loss, so a 4K or RAW video file arrives exactly as you shot and edited it. The password gate protects access to the transfer, but nothing touches the files themselves during the process.
No account is needed to download. Your client clicks the transfer link, enters the password you shared with them, and can immediately preview or download the footage directly in their browser. Yes. WeTransfer includes download tracking on all plans. In your Transfers panel, each sent transfer shows whether it has been downloaded and, for email transfers, a checkmark appears next to the recipient's address once they complete the download. Yes. Go to your Transfers panel, open the transfer, and you can add, change, or remove the password at any time while the transfer is still active.
