Files are sent with no compression and no re-encoding, meaning a 4K video, a high-resolution RAW, or a layered PSD lands with the recipient exactly as it left your drive. You can preview images, video, audio, and PDFs in-browser before downloading, and recipients can comment on individual files and mark favorites, making client review straightforward even before a single file is downloaded. If a project changes after you send, you can add, change, or remove the password on any active transfer from your Transfers panel without re-uploading anything.

When you are uploading, fill in the Password field in the transfer options panel before clicking Transfer. The password is never included in the notification email WeTransfer sends to your client, so you share the code separately, by text, in a direct message, or however suits your workflow. Recipients are prompted to enter it before they can access any of your files.
Not at all. WeTransfer sends files exactly as you uploaded them, with no compression, no re-encoding, and no resolution loss. A 4K video, a full-resolution RAW, or a large TIFF arrives at the other end identical to what left your drive, regardless of whether the transfer is password-protected or not.
Yes. Once a recipient enters the correct password, they can preview images, video, audio, and PDFs directly in the browser without downloading anything first. They can also comment on individual files and mark their favorites, which makes client approval rounds much easier. They only need to download the files they actually want.
Yes. Go to your Transfers panel, open the transfer, and you will find options to set, change, or remove the password at any time. The change takes effect immediately, so there is no need to re-upload your files or send a new link if your client needs access adjusted.
