When you add your files to the transfer window, you'll find a password field in the transfer options before you click Send. Enter the password there, complete the transfer, and anyone who opens the download link will be prompted to enter it before they can access anything. The password is never sent inside the WeTransfer notification email, so you share it with your recipients through a separate channel, such as a direct message or a project management tool.
WeTransfer places no restrictions on file type, so you can password-protect transfers containing CAD files, DWG or DXF drawings, STEP and IGES 3D models, PDFs, ZIP archives of project deliverables, Office documents, and more. Files go out exactly as you uploaded them, with no re-encoding or compression, so the receiving engineer opens the same file you exported from your design tool.
