Transfer files from any device

Sending video footage from a phone gets tricky when platforms compress it or reject files over a certain size. WeTransfer handles that differently: open it in your mobile browser, add your footage, and it leaves your phone exactly as it was shot, with no re-encoding, no resolution loss, and nothing stripped from the file. Your recipient can preview the video in-browser before deciding to download, saving them from pulling down a large file they haven't confirmed yet. You can share via a link you paste anywhere, or send directly to someone's inbox. For anything sensitive, add a password before the transfer goes out or limit access to a set of specific email addresses.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

No. WeTransfer does not re-encode or alter your video in any way during upload or download. The footage your recipient receives is bit-for-bit identical to what left your camera roll, including frame rate, resolution, and any audio tracks. This applies to 4K clips and RAW formats just as it does to standard HD video.

Yes. WeTransfer runs entirely in your mobile browser on iOS and Android, so there is nothing to install. Open wetransfer.com, tap to add your video, and it uploads directly from your device. If the upload pauses due to a connection drop, WeTransfer saves your progress and resumes automatically when the connection returns.

Yes, recipients can preview MP4 and MOV files directly in the browser before downloading anything to their device. The preview plays at a slightly lower resolution than the original, so they can confirm it is the right clip before saving the full file. No account is needed to preview or download.

On the free plan, you can send up to 3 GB per transfer and up to 10 transfers within a rolling 30-day window. Free transfers are available to download for up to 3 days after sending. On Ultimate and above, there is no per-transfer size cap, transfers can be set to never expire, and you get access to unlimited transfers, making it a better fit for large or ongoing video work.

Yes. Before sending, you can add a password so only people who have it can access the download. You can also restrict access to specific email addresses, meaning anyone outside that list is turned away even if they have the link. Both options are available on all plans and can be set or changed after the transfer has already been sent.
