Transfer files from any device

Sending PDFs from a phone usually means wrestling with email attachment limits or waiting until you're back at a desk. WeTransfer runs entirely in your mobile browser on iOS and Android, so you can upload a PDF and have it on its way in under a minute. Recipients can open and read the PDF in-browser before downloading — useful when they need to check the right version without saving anything to their device. You can lock any transfer with a password before sending, and every file travels encrypted in transit and sits on EU-based servers at rest. If you want tighter control over who opens the file, you can restrict access to specific email addresses or turn on download tracking to see exactly who opened it and when.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Yes. WeTransfer runs in any mobile browser on iOS or Android, so you can go to wetransfer.com, add your PDF, and send it without installing anything. The full sending experience — including password protection, link sharing, and email delivery — is available directly in the browser.

Yes. Recipients can preview PDFs directly in the browser without downloading the file first. That means they can check they have the right document — the right version, the right content — before saving anything to their device. No account is needed to preview or download.

You have two options. Adding a password means only people who know it can access the transfer — share the password separately, as WeTransfer does not include it in the notification email. Alternatively, you can restrict access to specific email addresses, so only those recipients can open the file after verifying their email.

On a free account, transfers are available for up to 3 days from the moment they are sent. On Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry — including keeping transfers available indefinitely. If a transfer has expired on Ultimate, you can also recover it, even retroactively.

No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as they are — no re-encoding, no compression, no alterations. Your PDF arrives with its original formatting, fonts, and resolution completely intact, whether it is a one-page form or a detailed multi-page document.
