Send your first transfer

Transfer files from any device

Healthcare professionals need a reliable way to share files on the go, whether that's a discharge summary from a tablet, a radiology report between departments, or consent documentation sent to an administrative contact. WeTransfer runs entirely in your mobile browser, so there is no software to manage and no compatibility headache across devices or operating systems. Every file arrives exactly as you uploaded it, with no compression and no quality loss, which matters when diagnostic images or scanned legal forms need to stay pixel-perfect. Before a transfer goes out, you can add a password, restrict access to specific email addresses, or enable download tracking to confirm who received what and when. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on EU servers, and WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR-compliant, giving healthcare teams a security baseline that matches the sensitivity of the work.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

WeTransfer encrypts all files in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256, stores data on EU-based servers, and holds ISO 27001 certification. The platform is fully GDPR-compliant and Data Processing Agreements are available for paid plan customers, which is relevant for healthcare organisations handling personal data. WeTransfer does not view, sell, or share your files, and files are never used to train AI models.

No installation is needed on either end. WeTransfer runs entirely in the mobile browser on iOS or Android, so clinicians, administrators, and referring providers can send and receive files without downloading anything. Recipients do not need a WeTransfer account to download a transfer, which removes friction when coordinating with external contacts like GPs, specialists, or third-party labs.

WeTransfer supports any file type, so you can send PDFs, DICOM exports packaged as ZIPs, JPEG or TIFF images, audio recordings, Office documents, scanned forms, and more directly from your phone. Files are never compressed or re-encoded, so scanned documents and medical images arrive in their original quality. Recipients can preview images, PDFs, and video in the browser before downloading to confirm they have the right file.

Yes. You can add a password to any transfer before sending, or restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so only named recipients can open the files. You can also enable download tracking to see exactly who downloaded the transfer and when, which is useful for maintaining a record of who received clinical or administrative documents. All three options are available on all plans and can be set directly from your mobile browser.

On the free plan, transfers are available for up to 3 days. On Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry or keep transfers available indefinitely. Ultimate plan users can also recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before upgrading, which provides a safety net if a colleague misses a time-sensitive referral or report. If you need transfers that never expire by default, upgrading to Ultimate removes that constraint entirely.
