CAD drawings, 3D models, technical PDFs, and inspection reports can all leave your phone the moment they're ready. Open wetransfer.com in any mobile browser, upload your files, and get them to colleagues, contractors, or clients without installing anything on either end.
Transfer files from any device
Engineering projects generate files that are dense, precise, and often too large for email — and decisions rarely wait until you're back at a desk. WeTransfer runs entirely in your mobile browser on iOS or Android, so you can upload and share CAD files, 3D models, ZIP archives, technical reports, and high-resolution survey photography straight from the field. Every file arrives exactly as you sent it: no compression, no re-encoding, no data stripped from the original, which matters when dimensional accuracy or image fidelity is part of the work. Recipients can preview images, PDFs, and video directly in the browser before downloading, letting them confirm they have the right revision without pulling down the full file. When you need tighter control over who sees what, you can add a password before sending or restrict access to a named list of email addresses.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. WeTransfer sends files exactly as they are — no compression is applied and nothing is altered in transit, so a CAD file or 3D model arrives with the same geometry, layers, and metadata it had when you uploaded it. Any file type you can store on your phone, including DWG, DXF, STEP, OBJ, and ZIP archives, can be sent through the browser without installing an app.
No account is needed to download. Whoever you send to just clicks the link in their notification email or opens the transfer URL directly, and they can download everything straight away. If you send a link transfer, you can share that URL in a WhatsApp message, project management tool, or email chain and anyone with it can access the files.
Before you send, you can add a password that recipients must enter before downloading, or restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so only those people can open the transfer. Both options are available on all plans and can be set directly in the transfer window on mobile. You can also track exactly who downloaded the files and when by enabling download tracking before sending.
WeTransfer supports folder uploads, and recipients download the folder with the original directory structure preserved. This is useful when you're sharing a project folder where the file hierarchy itself carries meaning, such as sorted survey images, report versions, or asset sets organized by discipline.
The free plan lets you send up to 3 GB per transfer and up to 10 transfers per rolling 30-day window, with links available for up to 3 days before expiring. For engineering teams regularly exchanging large point clouds, simulation outputs, or full project archives, the Ultimate plan removes the per-transfer size cap, lets you set a custom expiry or keep transfers available indefinitely, and adds malware scanning on every transfer. Teams needing a shared workspace with centralized billing and up to 50 members can move to the Teams plan.
