WeTransfer accepts any file type, so you can send PSDs, AI files, Figma exports, Sketch files, InDesign packages, CAD and 3D files, ZIP archives, and more. There is no format restriction on either end — files are sent as-is, with no conversion or compression applied. Whatever your workflow produces, it arrives on the other end in exactly the same state.
No. WeTransfer uses lossless packaging when bundling multiple files into a zip, but the files themselves are never re-encoded, resampled, or modified in any way. Your original layers, resolution, color profiles, and metadata all stay intact from the moment you upload to the moment the recipient downloads.
Recipients can preview images, PDFs, video, and audio directly in the browser without downloading a thing. They can also leave comments on individual files and mark their favorites, which makes it easy to gather quick feedback on assets before a full download. For file formats that aren't previewable in-browser, recipients can still selectively download only the files they need.
Folder uploads are supported, and the original folder structure is preserved when the recipient downloads. If you're sending an organized asset library, a component kit, or a project folder, everything arrives in the same hierarchy you put it in — no manual reorganization needed on the other end. Note that folder upload from a mobile browser may depend on your device and browser; if you run into any issue, zipping the folder first is a reliable fallback.
Before sending, you can add a password so only recipients who know it can open the transfer. You can also restrict access to a specific email address or a list of addresses, meaning the download link won't work for anyone outside that list. Both options are available on all plans and can be set directly in the transfer window on mobile.
