WeTransfer doesn't restrict you to specific file formats — CSVs, Excel spreadsheets, JSON files, XML exports, database dumps, PDFs, and compressed archives all transfer without issue. Whatever format your data lives in, it uploads and downloads as-is. There's no re-encoding or modification applied to the file during the process.
No. WeTransfer transfers files in their original state — no compression, no format conversion, and no changes to file contents. A CSV you upload from your phone is the exact same CSV your recipient downloads. This matters for data files where even minor alterations could break imports or corrupt records.
Yes. You can send to several recipients in one transfer either by entering multiple email addresses (up to 10 on a free account) or by generating a shareable link that anyone can open. Link transfers have no recipient cap, so you can paste the URL into a group chat or shared thread and everyone can access the files.
Before sending, you can add a password that recipients need to enter before they can download. You can also enable restricted access, which limits downloads to specific email addresses you approve — anyone else who opens the link won't be able to get the files. Both options are available on all plans and can be set right from the transfer window on your phone.
On a free account, transfers are available for up to 3 days from the moment you send them. If you need files to stay accessible longer — or indefinitely — that's available on paid plans, where you can set a custom expiry or keep a transfer active until you choose to delete it. You can also delete a transfer at any time to immediately revoke access to the download link.
