Yes. WeTransfer supports any file type, including DWG, DXF, PDF plans, and ZIP archives of project files. Open wetransfer.com in your iOS or Android browser, add your files, and send them directly to a colleague, subcontractor, or client. Nothing gets converted or compressed along the way, so the files your recipient downloads are identical to what you uploaded.
No account is needed on the receiving end. Your recipient gets a download link, either via email or a link you share directly, and they can open it in any browser on any device and download the files straight away. This is useful on a construction project where subcontractors or site visitors may not have WeTransfer accounts.
You have two options before sending. You can add a password to the transfer, which the recipient needs to enter before downloading, and you share that password separately. Alternatively, you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses, so only the people you name can open the files. Both options are available on all plans and take seconds to set up in the transfer window.
Yes. You can upload a whole folder from your phone and it arrives on the other end with the original folder structure intact. For a construction handoff, that means a recipient can download a neatly organized set of inspection images or progress photos without you having to rename or repackage anything.
On a free account, transfers are available for up to 3 days. If your project timelines are longer and you need files to stay accessible for weeks or indefinitely, the Ultimate plan lets you set a custom expiry or keep transfers available until you choose to delete them. Ultimate also lets you recover transfers that have already expired, which can be a lifesaver when a document is needed again months down the line.
