Transfer files from any device

3D files are often large, oddly formatted, or both, and most sharing tools weren't built with them in mind. WeTransfer is different: open wetransfer.com in your phone's browser, add your files, and they arrive on the other end exactly as you uploaded them, with no compression, no format conversion, and nothing altered. Whether you're working with OBJ, STL, FBX, CAD exports, or any other 3D format, the file your recipient gets is the file you sent. You can deliver to someone's inbox directly or generate a shareable link to drop into a message thread, a client portal, or anywhere else. For anything sensitive, a password or email-based access restriction can be added before the transfer goes out.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as they are, without re-encoding, resampling, or any other modification. Your 3D model, CAD export, or render file reaches the recipient in its original format and at its original size, which matters when precision and file integrity are critical to the work.

WeTransfer works with any file type, so OBJ, STL, FBX, GLTF, 3DS, DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, and any other 3D or CAD format you're working in will upload and transfer without issue. There are no format restrictions, and your files are not converted at any point in the process.

Yes. On a free account you can send files up to 3 GB per transfer, which covers most individual 3D models and scene files. If your work involves larger assets, like high-polygon meshes, full scene packages, or archived project folders, upgrading to Ultimate removes the per-transfer size cap entirely.

Recipients can preview certain file types, including images, PDFs, video renders, and audio, directly in their browser before deciding what to download. For 3D-specific formats like STL or OBJ, in-browser preview isn't available, but recipients can still see the full file list and choose whether to download individual files or everything at once. They can also leave comments and mark favorites on supported previews, which helps when sharing early-stage work for feedback.

You can add a password to any transfer before it goes out, so only recipients who know it can access the download page. If you need tighter control, you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses, meaning the link won't work for anyone outside that list. Both options are available on all plans and can be set from the transfer window on mobile.
