No. WeTransfer sends every file in its original condition, with no compression, re-encoding, or resolution change. A RAW file from your camera, a 4K video, or a layered PSD arrives at the other end byte-for-byte as you uploaded it. The zip packaging used for multi-file downloads is lossless, so nothing is altered there either.
WeTransfer accepts any file type, so RAW formats like ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, and RAF all transfer without issue, alongside JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PSD, MP4, MOV, and anything else in a photographer's or videographer's toolkit. There is no conversion step and no restricted list. If it lives on your drive, you can send it.
Yes. Recipients can open images, video, audio, and PDFs directly in their browser without downloading a thing. The preview renders at a slightly lower resolution than the original, which is useful for client review: they can browse the whole transfer, mark favorites, leave comments on individual files, and then choose to download only what they need. No account is required on their end to view or comment.
Recipients never need an account. They click the download link you share or the button in the notification email, and the files are theirs. Only the person sending the transfer needs a free WeTransfer account, which takes seconds to set up the first time you send.
