You can upload entire folders directly, and WeTransfer preserves the original folder structure so recipients download everything exactly as you organized it. There is no need to zip files manually beforehand, though zipping is also an option if you prefer a single archive. Folder uploads work from the browser on desktop.
No account needed on their end. Recipients click the download link or the button in the notification email and get the files straight away. They can also preview supported file types in the browser before downloading, so they can check what is inside and grab only what they need.
WeTransfer does not re-encode, resize, or alter your files in any way. When multiple files are packaged for download they go into a lossless zip, so nothing inside the folder is modified. What you upload is exactly what your recipient gets.
You have two options, both available on a free account. You can lock the transfer with a password and share it separately with your recipients, or you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so only those people can open the link. For detailed visibility, you can also enable download tracking to see who accessed the transfer and when.
On a free account you can send up to 3 GB per transfer and up to 10 transfers per rolling 30-day window, with links staying active for up to 3 days. If your folders are larger, you send them regularly, or you need transfers that never expire, WeTransfer Ultimate removes the transfer size cap, lets you set any expiry including no expiry at all, and adds the ability to recover links that have already expired, even ones that expired before you upgraded.
