There are no restrictions on format, so your design files, fonts, and linked assets all travel together exactly as packaged. Recipients get everything in its original state, with no re-encoding or compression applied.
No. WeTransfer does not alter, re-encode, or compress your files at any point. A 500 MB layered Photoshop file or a high-resolution print-ready PDF arrives on the other end bit-for-bit identical to what you uploaded. The zipping that happens when you send multiple files together is lossless and only affects packaging, not the files themselves.
Yes. Recipients can open images, PDFs, videos, and audio files directly in the browser without downloading anything first, which is handy when a client wants to confirm they're looking at the right version before saving a large file. Previews are available at a slightly lower resolution than the original, and clients can also leave comments on individual files or mark their favorites, making it easier to give feedback without a separate review tool.
Two options are available on a free account. You can add a password to a transfer so only people who know it can download, or you can restrict access to a specific email address or a list of addresses, which means the link does nothing for anyone not on that list. Both settings can be applied before you send and adjusted afterward from your transfers panel. These are worth using for pre-release brand work, unreleased campaigns, or anything under NDA.
