Know who's watching your retail video transfers

WeTransfer shows view activity on every video transfer as soon as it's sent. Whether you're sharing campaign footage, product demos, or training content with your retail team, you can see how many times a transfer has been previewed and, with access control on, a full log of who watched and when.

Keep count of who views your transfer

Retail teams share a lot of video, from seasonal campaign cuts to in-store training clips, and knowing whether that content has actually been watched changes how you follow up. WeTransfer logs a preview count on every transfer automatically, giving you a real-time read on engagement without any setup. When you need to go deeper, enabling access control on a transfer adds a per-recipient breakdown showing exactly who previewed your video and at what time. Recipients can watch MP4 and MOV files directly in the browser before downloading, so every view registers whether or not they save a copy. Download tracking is also available separately, so you can see who pulled the file and when alongside your view data.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Yes. Every transfer includes a preview count visible in your account from the moment it's shared. If you want to see which specific buyer viewed your video and when, enable access control on that transfer, either in tracked or restricted mode, and WeTransfer will give you a per-recipient log with names and timestamps.

No. WeTransfer lets recipients preview MP4 and MOV files directly in the browser, and that preview registers as a view in your transfer stats. A recipient can watch your product demo or campaign video without downloading it, and you will still see the activity.

View tracking records each time a recipient opens or previews a video transfer in the browser, and a basic preview count is always on for every transfer. Download tracking is a separate option you enable explicitly, and it records who saved a copy of the file and when. For retail use cases like confirming a buyer has seen campaign footage, view tracking often tells you what you need; download tracking adds a layer of confirmation that the file has been kept.

Yes. Restricted access lets you specify a single email address or a list of addresses, and only those recipients can open the transfer. Anyone else who tries the link will be blocked. This is useful when sharing unreleased campaign footage or confidential training materials with a specific set of stores or partners.

On a free account, transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days. On an Ultimate plan, you can set a custom expiry date or leave transfers open indefinitely so recipients can access training videos or campaign assets whenever they need them. Ultimate also lets you recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before you upgraded.
