Sharing product launches, visual merchandising guides, or campaign footage with buyers and store teams is only useful if you know who actually watched. WeTransfer shows you when each recipient previews or downloads your video, so you can follow up with the right people at the right moment.
Keep count of who views your transfer
Retail moves fast, and sending campaign videos or product demos to buyers, franchise partners, or regional managers means you need engagement signals, not guesswork. WeTransfer's Transfers panel records preview activity and download events separately, so you can tell whether a contact watched your video in the browser or saved it to their device. Enable download tracking before you send and every access event is tied to a verified email address and an exact timestamp, giving your sales or marketing team a clear record to reference before a call or meeting. For footage that should stay within a specific audience, such as an unreleased seasonal campaign or a confidential brand refresh, you can restrict the transfer to a named list of email addresses so only those contacts can open it. Every video arrives in its original resolution with no re-encoding, so a 4K lookbook or in-store training film plays exactly as it was produced.

All your questions answered.
Yes. WeTransfer records in-browser preview activity and downloads as separate events in your Transfers panel, so you can see whether a buyer watched your product launch video directly in the browser or saved it to their device. Enable download tracking before sending and each event is tied to the recipient's verified email address alongside a precise timestamp. That distinction matters in retail, where knowing a buyer previewed a campaign video but hasn't committed to downloading it can be exactly the signal you need before a follow-up call.
Open the transfer settings panel before clicking Send and enable the download tracking option. From that point, every time a recipient accesses your video, WeTransfer logs their verified email address and the time of the event. You can review the full activity record for that transfer in your Transfers panel at any time. For email transfers, a checkmark appears next to each recipient's address once they download, and you can hover over it to see the exact date and time.
Yes. Before sending, enable the restricted access option and add the email addresses of the people you want to allow, such as named buyers at a specific retailer or regional managers within your franchise network. Anyone who opens the link but isn't on that list won't be able to view or download the video. You can edit the access list after sending from your transfer details page, and changes take effect immediately.
Yes. When you send to multiple recipients by email, WeTransfer tracks each contact individually, so you can see which store managers or wholesale contacts have watched or downloaded your video and which haven't. For link transfers shared across a team or channel, enabling download tracking requires each person to verify their email address before accessing the files, which gives you a named record per viewer rather than an anonymous count.
No account is needed on the recipient's side. Retail partners, franchise contacts, or buyers can preview your video directly in their browser or download it to their device without signing up for anything. They can also preview individual files before deciding what to download, which is useful when you're sharing a set of assets alongside the main campaign footage. Only the sender needs an account.
