Know who's looking at your retail image shares

WeTransfer gives you a live preview count on every transfer the moment it's sent. When you need the full picture, access control adds a per-recipient log so you can see exactly which buyers, partners, or team members have looked at your product images and when.

Keep count of who views your transfer

Retail moves fast, and knowing whether your lookbook, product shots, or campaign assets have actually been seen can change how you plan your next step. WeTransfer tracks preview activity on every transfer automatically, so you have a baseline on engagement without changing how you work. When a total count is not enough, switching to tracked or restricted access gives you a name-by-name view of who previewed your images and at what time. Recipients can browse your images directly in the browser before downloading, and each time they do, that activity is captured. Download tracking is available separately, so you can also see who has saved copies of your files.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Every transfer automatically records a preview count visible in your transfer list, no setup required. Each time a recipient opens your transfer and views your product images in the browser, that counts toward the total. For a buyer-by-buyer breakdown, enable tracked or restricted access mode when sending, and you will get a per-recipient log showing who previewed and when.

Recipients can preview JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, PSD, and a range of RAW formats including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, and others, all directly in the browser. This means buyers and merchandising teams can check your product shots or campaign images before deciding what to save, which also gives you cleaner engagement data.

Previews do not trigger email notifications, but the view count on your transfer updates as activity happens and you can check it any time from your account. If you want a detailed record, enabling access control gives you a per-recipient log with timestamps rather than a single running total.

Yes, view tracking is always on and records preview activity automatically. Download tracking is a separate option you enable when setting up a transfer, and it shows you who downloaded files and when. Turning both on gives retail teams a complete picture of how buyers and partners are engaging with shared product imagery.

On a free account, transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days. On an Ultimate plan or above, you can set a custom expiry date or let the transfer stay active indefinitely until you delete it, which is useful for wholesale catalogues or seasonal lookbooks that buyers may need to revisit. If a transfer does expire, Ultimate users can recover it retroactively.
