Sharing photos with a client or creative partner leaves you wondering whether they actually looked. WeTransfer shows you when your photos were previewed or downloaded, and by whom, so you always know where things stand before reaching out.
Keep count of who views your transfer
When photos are the work, visibility into how they land is part of the job. WeTransfer lets you enable download tracking on any photo transfer, and anyone who opens your link has to verify their email first, giving you a named, timestamped record of every access event. Recipients can browse your photos directly in the browser before deciding what to download, and that preview activity shows up in your Transfers panel as a genuine engagement signal. For deliveries going to a defined group, like a client, an art director, or an editorial team, you can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses so nobody outside that list can reach the files. Your photos transfer at full original resolution, with no re-encoding or quality loss at any point.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
WeTransfer separates preview activity from download activity, so you can see both in your Transfers panel. When you enable tracked downloads, anyone who opens your link verifies their email first, meaning even a browse-only visit is tied to a real, named person. That gives you a meaningful signal to act on before following up.
In the transfer window, look for the Access Control settings before clicking Transfer and select Tracked downloads. From that point on, anyone who opens your link is asked to verify their email address, and each access event appears in your transfer's activity record with a name, email address, and timestamp. You can check this at any time from your Transfers panel.
Yes. Restricted downloads let you specify a list of approved email addresses before sending. Anyone who opens the link must verify their email, and access is only granted if their address matches your list. You can update that list after sending directly from the transfer details page, and changes take effect immediately.
The in-browser preview displays at a slightly lower resolution to keep things fast, but the files themselves are never re-encoded or altered. When a recipient downloads, they get your photos exactly as you uploaded them, at full original resolution with no quality loss. This applies to every file type WeTransfer handles, including RAW formats and high-resolution JPEGs.
Yes. When comments are enabled on a transfer, recipients can click any individual photo in the preview and leave a comment directly on that file. They can also mark favorites, which is useful when you want client selects or feedback on a set of images. You receive an email notification for each new comment, and recipients do not need a WeTransfer account to leave one.
