Every transfer you send through WeTransfer comes with a built-in view count, so you always know if your PDF has been opened. Enable access control to go further and see exactly who previewed it and when.
Keep count of who views your transfer
When you send a proposal, report, or client brief as a PDF, knowing whether it was actually seen matters. WeTransfer shows a preview count on every transfer automatically, with no setup required. For a closer look, turning on tracked or restricted access gives you a per-recipient log of who opened your file and at what time. Recipients can preview your PDF directly in the browser before downloading, so you get engagement data even when no download happens. It all runs from your transfer list, without any extra tools or integrations.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Every transfer shows a total preview count by default, so you can see how many times your PDF was opened. If you want a per-recipient breakdown, enable tracked or restricted access when sending, and WeTransfer logs who previewed the file and when.
View tracking records how many times your PDF was previewed in the browser, while download tracking logs who actually saved the file to their device. Both are available on all plans, but download tracking must be explicitly switched on by the sender. Previews do not trigger email notifications, but you can check the count in your transfer list at any time.
No. WeTransfer recipients can open and read a PDF directly in the browser without downloading it, and that still registers as a preview. This makes view tracking especially useful for proposals or documents where people tend to look before committing to a download.
Yes. Restricted access lets you specify which email addresses are allowed to open your transfer, so only those people can view or download your PDF. This also activates per-recipient tracking, giving you a clear record of who accessed the file and when.
On free accounts, transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days and cannot be recovered. Ultimate plan subscribers can set a custom expiry or no expiry at all, and can also recover expired transfers retroactively. If sending time-sensitive PDFs to clients, upgrading to Ultimate ensures the link stays active as long as you need it.
