Sending images to a client or collaborator and hearing nothing back is frustrating. WeTransfer lets you see when your images have been previewed or downloaded, so follow-ups are based on real activity rather than guesswork.
Keep count of who views your transfer
When images are the deliverable, knowing whether your recipient actually looked at them matters. WeTransfer's download tracking ties every access event to a verified email address, giving you a named record of who engaged with your transfer and when, right from your Transfers panel. Recipients can browse your images in-browser at a slightly lower resolution before choosing to download, so you get a meaningful engagement signal even from those who preview without saving. If you want tighter control over who can reach your images at all, Restricted downloads let you limit access to a pre-approved list of email addresses. Every image arrives in its original quality, with no compression or resolution loss, so what your client sees is exactly what you sent.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Recipients can view your images directly in the browser before deciding to download, and WeTransfer records that engagement separately from a full download. You can check activity on any transfer from your Transfers panel, so you'll know whether someone browsed your images even if they never saved them to their device.
Before sending, enable Tracked downloads in the transfer settings. Anyone who opens your link will be asked to verify their email address first, and you'll receive a notification each time someone accesses your transfer. The activity log in your transfer details shows each person's name, email, and the exact time they viewed or downloaded your images.
Yes. Restricted downloads let you add a list of approved email addresses before sending. When someone opens your link, they must verify their email, and access is only granted if they match your list. Anyone outside that list is blocked from viewing your images entirely, which is useful for client deliverables or confidential creative work.
No. WeTransfer sends files in their original quality with no compression, re-encoding, or resolution changes. Your images arrive exactly as you exported them, whether you're sending high-resolution JPEGs, RAW files, or layered PSDs. The in-browser preview displays at a slightly lower resolution so recipients can browse quickly, but the downloaded file is always the original.
Basic download tracking is available on all plans, including Free. You can see whether a transfer has been downloaded and, for email transfers, when each recipient downloaded it. Tracked downloads with email verification and Restricted downloads that lock access to a specific list are available on paid plans. Check wetransfer.com/pricing to see which tier fits your workflow.
