WeTransfer shows a preview count on every video transfer the moment it goes out. When you need the full picture, a per-recipient log tells you exactly who watched and when, so you can follow up with confidence.
Keep count of who views your transfer
Sharing video content with hospitality clients, venue partners, or event coordinators is only half the job. Knowing whether anyone has actually watched keeps your workflow moving and your follow-ups relevant. WeTransfer records a preview count on every transfer automatically, visible in your account with nothing to configure. For richer detail, enabling access control on a transfer produces a per-recipient view log with names and timestamps, so you know precisely which stakeholder has seen your room tours, promotional reels, or event footage. You can also turn on download tracking separately to see who saved a local copy of your video.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Every WeTransfer transfer displays a preview count automatically, so you can see how many times your video has been opened without any setup. To find out which specific recipient watched it and when, enable access control on the transfer before sending, and WeTransfer will build a per-recipient log with names and timestamps. This makes follow-up conversations with hospitality clients much more focused.
View notifications are not triggered for previews the way they are for downloads, so you won't receive an email the moment a client watches. Instead, you check the preview count and the per-recipient activity log directly in your transfer list whenever you like. If you also enable download tracking, you will get a record of who saved your video file locally.
Recipients can preview MP4 and MOV files directly in their browser, including 4K footage, with no software or account required. WeTransfer displays video at a slightly lower resolution for the preview, while the original file stays untouched for download. This is particularly useful for hospitality teams sharing promotional reels or venue walk-throughs, since clients can review the content before committing to a full download.
On a free account, transfers expire after a maximum of three days, so your client needs to view or download the video within that window. If you need transfers to stay available longer, or indefinitely, that is possible on Ultimate and higher plans. Ultimate also lets you recover expired transfers retroactively, which can be a lifesaver when a venue partner circles back after a link has lapsed.
Yes. When creating a transfer, you can enable restricted access and list the email addresses of the people you want to allow in. Anyone not on that list will be blocked from viewing or downloading the video. This is useful when sharing confidential promotional content, unreleased event footage, or branded video assets with a specific hotel team or client before a public launch.
