Send ZIP files recipients can browse before downloading

When you upload a ZIP archive on WeTransfer, the contents stay packaged for easy downloading, but your recipients get a transfer page where they can preview images, watch videos, and read documents right in the browser. They can pick exactly what they want and download only that, without saving the whole archive first.

Browse files and folders, then download

Sending a ZIP file usually means your recipient has to download and unpack everything just to see what's inside, which wastes time when they only need one or two files. WeTransfer wraps every transfer in a preview page, so the contents are visible in the browser the moment someone opens your link. Recipients can scroll through images, play video or audio, and read PDFs before committing to a download, then grab only the specific files they actually need. They can also mark individual items as favorites and leave comments tied to specific files, so feedback stays attached to the right assets rather than landing in a separate thread. No account needed to preview or download, and every file arrives exactly as it was packed, with no changes to quality or content.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Yes. WeTransfer unpacks the contents for preview on its transfer page, so recipients can view images, video, audio, and PDFs directly in the browser without downloading a thing. They never need to install an unzip tool or save the whole archive to their device just to check what you sent.

Yes. From the transfer preview page, recipients can select and download individual files rather than saving everything at once. If they do want the full set, they can download all files together as a ZIP archive in one click.

The preview page supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, PSD, and RAW formats for images; MP4 and MOV files up to 300 MB for video; MP3 and WAV up to 300 MB for audio; and PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint files, spreadsheets, and plain text files up to 256 MB. File types outside those formats are still included in the transfer and downloadable, just not previewable in the browser.

Yes. Recipients can click into any previewable file on the transfer page and leave a comment directly tied to that item, with no WeTransfer account needed to do so. You receive an email notification for each new comment, and all feedback stays in one place rather than arriving as disconnected replies.

Free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer, which covers most ZIP archives. On Ultimate and above, there is no per-transfer size cap, so you can send ZIP files of any size. Free transfers expire after up to 3 days, while Ultimate subscribers can set a custom expiry or keep transfers available indefinitely.
