Healthcare work involves sensitive files that need to reach the right people clearly and safely. Every WeTransfer transfer includes a built-in preview page where recipients can open medical images, review PDF reports, watch videos, and listen to audio directly in their browser, then download only the files they actually need. Recipients need no app and no account.
Browse files and folders, then download
When sharing patient education materials, imaging exports, clinical documentation, or research assets, giving recipients a chance to verify what they're looking at before downloading reduces errors and unnecessary file saves. WeTransfer attaches a preview page to every transfer automatically, so a colleague can scan through a multi-page PDF protocol or check a set of imaging files right in their browser without pulling anything to their local machine first. Recipients can mark individual files as favorites and leave comments on specific items, keeping review notes and feedback tied directly to the file rather than buried in a separate email thread. Every file arrives exactly as you uploaded it, with no compression and no changes to resolution or format, whether you are sending DICOM-adjacent exports, high-resolution scan images, or video recordings. For transfers containing sensitive materials, you can add password protection or restrict access to a named list of email addresses so only the intended recipients can open the transfer.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Every transfer sent through WeTransfer includes a built-in preview page that opens directly in the browser. Recipients can view PDFs, images, audio, and video without downloading anything first, which is useful when a clinician or administrator needs to confirm they have the correct files before saving them locally. No account is needed on the recipient's side.
You can lock a transfer behind a password so only people who know it can access the files, or you can use restricted access to limit downloads to a specific list of email addresses. Both options are available on all plans. For transfers requiring an audit trail, download tracking lets you see exactly who opened a transfer and when.
WeTransfer does not compress, re-encode, or alter files in any way during transfer. Whatever you upload is exactly what the recipient downloads, including full resolution images, high-bitrate video, and multi-page PDFs. This matters in healthcare contexts where image fidelity and document integrity are important.
Recipients can leave comments tied to individual files within the preview, so a reviewer can flag a specific page in a PDF protocol or note something about a particular image without starting a separate email thread. Comments are visible to anyone with access to the transfer, and the sender receives an email notification for each new comment.
Free plan transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days. On Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry duration or keep transfers available indefinitely. Ultimate users can also recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before upgrading, which can be helpful when a document needs to be retrieved after the fact. Free users cannot recover expired transfers.
