Yes. Every WeTransfer transfer includes a built-in preview page that recipients open directly in their browser. PDFs, Office documents including spreadsheets and presentations, images, and several other formats are all previewable without saving anything to the recipient's machine first. Recipients can then choose to download the whole transfer or only the individual files they need.
You have two options for tightening access. Password protection lets you lock any transfer behind a code that you share separately with your recipients, so anyone who intercepts the link still cannot open the files. Restricted access goes a step further: you specify a list of email addresses, and only people who verify against that list can download. Both are available on all plans.
WeTransfer sends every file in its original format without any compression, reformatting, or re-encoding. A spreadsheet with complex formulas, a digitally signed PDF, or a multi-tab financial model reaches the other end byte-for-byte as you uploaded it. Nothing about the file changes in transit.
Yes. Recipients can leave comments tied to individual files within the preview, so a client can flag a question on page three of a PDF or note a revision on a specific slide without sending a separate email. You receive a notification for each new comment, and the feedback stays attached to the exact file it relates to.
WeTransfer encrypts all files in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256. Files are stored on AWS servers in Ireland, the company is ISO 27001 certified, and it is fully GDPR-compliant and based in the EU. Data Processing Agreements are available for paid plan customers, and WeTransfer does not view, sell, or use your files for any purpose, including AI training.
