Recipients can preview JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, PSD, and PSB files directly in the browser, along with PDFs and common video and audio formats. RAW formats including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, RW2, and ORF are also supported. Files that fall outside the supported preview types are still delivered at full quality and can be downloaded as usual.


Yes. Anyone with access to the preview can click on an individual file and leave a comment attached to it, keeping feedback tied directly to the asset rather than scattered across a separate email thread. Comments are available on all plans and can be turned on or off by the sender. No account is required for recipients to comment — they just enter their name and email address.


No. WeTransfer does not re-encode, compress, or alter your files in any way during transfer. Every asset arrives exactly as you exported it, including color profiles, resolution, and layer data for formats that support it. The preview page displays files at a slightly lower resolution for faster loading, but what recipients actually download is always the original.


Yes. From the preview page, recipients can click individual files to download them separately rather than saving the full transfer as a zip. This is useful when you're sending a mixed batch — finished assets alongside working drafts, for example — and the client only needs to keep certain pieces.


Yes. When setting up a transfer, you can add a password that recipients must enter before accessing your files, available on all plans. You can also restrict access to specific email addresses, so only the people on your list can open the transfer after verifying their identity. Both options work independently and can be combined for additional control.
