Send ZIP files that stop being available when you say

Upload a ZIP archive and choose exactly how long the download link stays live. When your window closes, access ends on its own, so bundled files don't linger past their purpose.

Transfer expiration is in your hands

When you're sharing a ZIP archive, the contents are often meant for a specific moment: a project handoff, a client delivery, or a batch of assets that should stop circulating once the work is done. WeTransfer lets you attach an expiry to any transfer before you send it, so the link goes dark automatically when the time is right. No one needs to chase down old links or manually revoke access after the fact. If the handoff calls for extra control, you can add a password to the transfer or lock it to specific email addresses, keeping the ZIP accessible only to the right people for as long as it needs to be. Recipients can browse the contents in their browser before downloading, so they can confirm they have the right archive without saving anything they don't need yet.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Before clicking Transfer, open the transfer options and select your expiry window. Free and Starter accounts cap links at 3 days maximum. On Ultimate and above, you can pick any duration you want, or set the transfer to never expire unless you delete it yourself.

Yes. Open your Transfers panel, click the relevant transfer, and adjust the expiration date from there. The change takes effect immediately, so if you need to extend access or cut it short, you can do that without re-uploading the file.

Once a transfer expires, the download link stops working and the files are permanently removed from WeTransfer's servers. If you're on Ultimate or above and had the Recoverable option enabled, you may be able to retrieve the transfer within a set window after expiry — otherwise the files are gone for good.

ZIP archives themselves aren't previewed in the browser, but individual image, video, audio, and PDF files inside the transfer can be previewed before downloading. Recipients can choose to download only what they need rather than pulling everything down at once. For the actual ZIP, they'll unzip it locally after downloading.

On a free account, transfers are capped at 3 GB total per transfer. On Ultimate and above, there is no per-transfer size cap, so you can send large ZIP archives without splitting them up. Files arrive exactly as they were packed, with no re-compression or quality changes applied in transit.
