Send video footage that expires when you say so

Set an exact window for how long your video transfer stays open. Hand off rushes, graded exports, or finished cuts knowing access closes when your project calls for it, not whenever a platform timer decides.

Transfer expiration is in your hands

When video footage changes hands, whether it's a rough assembly for a director, a graded master for a client, or dailies for a VFX house, who can reach it and for how long matters as much as getting it there. WeTransfer lets you choose the expiry window before you send, so the download link goes dark automatically once the handoff is done. Your footage travels without any re-encoding or compression, meaning 4K files, high-bitrate exports, and RAW video land exactly as they left your drive. Recipients can play back clips in their browser before downloading, so they can confirm they have the right version without saving anything they don't need. Layer on password protection or tie access to a specific list of email addresses when the footage calls for an extra level of control alongside the time limit.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

When you create a transfer, you choose how long the download link stays active before it closes. On free accounts, links can stay open for up to 3 days. With an Ultimate plan or above, you can set any window you like, from a single day through to no expiry at all, and you can adjust that window after sending directly from your Transfers panel.

No. WeTransfer sends files exactly as you uploaded them, with no re-encoding, no compression, and no resolution loss. That applies to 4K footage, high-bitrate exports, and any other video format, so what the recipient downloads is identical to what left your drive.

Yes. Recipients can play back MP4 and MOV files (up to 300 MB) directly in their browser before downloading. That means a client or collaborator can check they have the right cut or version without saving a local copy of footage they might not need.

Yes. You can restrict access to a named list of email addresses, so only those people can reach the footage during the time the link is live. You can also add a password on top of that, or enable tracked downloads to see exactly who accessed the files and when.

Once a transfer expires, the download link stops working and the files are permanently removed from WeTransfer's servers. On free accounts that means files are gone after the link closes. On Ultimate and above, you can recover expired transfers within a set window, even retroactively after upgrading, which is useful if a client comes back needing files from a past delivery.
