Transfer expiration is in your hands

When you're sharing images, there's often a natural end point: a client approval window, a campaign launch date, or a handoff that should close once the assets are delivered. WeTransfer lets you attach an expiry to any image transfer so access ends exactly when it should, rather than whenever someone gets around to deleting the link. Your files are delivered in their original quality, with no recompression or resolution loss, so JPEGs, RAW files, PSDs, and PNGs arrive exactly as you exported them. Recipients can preview images directly in their browser before downloading, which means they can check what they need without pulling down the whole transfer. Add a password or restrict access to specific email addresses for tighter control over who can reach your images while the link is live.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

On a free account, transfers are available for up to 3 days from the moment they are sent. With Ultimate and above, you can set any custom duration you like, from a single day to indefinitely, so a brand shoot or client delivery can stay accessible for as long as the project actually runs.

Yes. Recipients can open images directly in their browser without downloading anything first. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, PSD, and a range of RAW formats such as ARW, NEF, CR2, DNG, and others, so photographers and designers can check what they're getting before committing to a download.

No. WeTransfer sends files in their original quality with no re-encoding, no resampling, and no resolution loss. A full-resolution RAW file or a layered PSD lands at the other end exactly as you uploaded it, which matters when accuracy to the original is part of the brief.

On Free and Starter plans, expired transfers are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. On Ultimate and above, expired transfers can be retrieved if the Recoverable option was enabled when sending. Files under 256 MB can be recovered for up to one year after expiry; files over 256 MB for up to 90 days.

Yes. When sending, you can restrict access to a list of specific email addresses, so only the people you name can open the link even if it gets forwarded. You can also enable tracked downloads to see exactly who accessed your images and when, both useful when sharing sensitive or pre-release visual work.
