Choose exactly how long your font transfer stays open, then let it close on its own. Whether you're licensing a typeface, delivering a brand kit, or sending a custom font for a one-off project, access ends when you decide, not when someone remembers to delete a link.
Transfer expiration is in your hands
Font files often carry licensing restrictions or represent work-in-progress type designs that shouldn't float around indefinitely after a project handoff. WeTransfer lets you attach an expiry to any transfer at the point of sending, so the download link closes automatically once your window is up. Files are delivered without any compression or alteration, meaning every weight, glyph set, and OpenType feature arrives exactly as you packaged it. For tighter handoffs, you can pair the expiry with a password or restrict the transfer to specific email addresses, keeping your typefaces out of the wrong hands while still active. Recipients can also preview supported files directly in the browser before downloading, so they can confirm they have the right cut before committing to a local install.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
When you add your font files to a transfer, look for the expiry option in the transfer settings before clicking Send. Free accounts cap transfers at 3 days, while Ultimate and above let you pick any window you need, including keeping the link open indefinitely. You can adjust the expiry date on an active transfer at any time from your Transfers panel, so you're not locked into your original choice.
WeTransfer accepts any file type, so TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2, EOT, and ZIP archives bundling an entire type family all transfer without issue. Files are sent in their original format with no conversion or compression, meaning every table, hint, and metadata entry your font editor wrote stays intact. If you're delivering a brand package that includes specimen PDFs alongside the font files, those travel in the same transfer.
Yes. You can restrict a transfer so that only people on a specific list of email addresses can download it, which is useful when delivering licensed fonts to named individuals at a studio or brand team. There's also a tracked-access option that requires anyone with the link to verify their email before downloading, giving you a record of exactly who opened it and when. Both options are available on all plans and can be configured before or after sending.
Once a transfer expires, the download link stops working and the files are permanently removed from WeTransfer's servers. Recipients who haven't downloaded by that point can no longer access the fonts, which is exactly the point for time-limited licensing handoffs or trial typeface deliveries. If you're on Ultimate or above, you can recover an expired transfer for a period after expiry, in case you need to resend without re-uploading from scratch.
Folder uploads are supported, so you can upload a full type family directory and WeTransfer preserves the original folder structure for recipients when they download. This is handy when delivering a variable font release with separate folders for each style, or a brand font system with documentation and license files nested alongside the typefaces. Recipients download everything in one go and find it organized exactly as you sent it.
