As a creative, you put care into every file you send. Expiry controls let you decide exactly how long a recipient can access your work, whether that's a client delivery with a firm review window or a portfolio drop you want off the table after a set date.
Transfer expiration is in your hands
When you share creative work, timing matters as much as the files themselves. WeTransfer lets you set a closing date on any transfer before you send it, so the link deactivates on its own without any follow-up from you. High-resolution images, video edits, audio sessions, layered design files, and PDFs all travel without any compression or re-encoding, so what your client or collaborator opens is exactly what you finished. You can layer in extra protection too, adding a password or limiting access to specific email addresses when the work is sensitive or pre-release. Recipients can also preview supported file types straight in the browser before downloading, which keeps approval rounds moving even when everyone is working from different locations.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
When you upload your files on WeTransfer, you'll find an expiry option in the transfer settings before you hit send. Free and Starter accounts cap transfers at 3 days, while Ultimate and above let you choose any duration, or keep the transfer available indefinitely. Once the date passes, the link deactivates automatically and the files are removed from WeTransfer's servers.
Yes. Open your Transfers panel, click the relevant transfer, and update the expiration date from there. Changes take effect immediately, so you can extend a window if a client needs more time or shorten it if the work moves into a restricted phase. Just let your recipient know directly, as WeTransfer doesn't automatically notify them when the date changes.
WeTransfer handles any file type without compression, including RAW and high-res image files, 4K video, layered PSD and design files, audio sessions, PDFs, 3D and CAD files, ZIP archives, and more. Files arrive exactly as you saved them, with no resolution loss or re-encoding, which matters when colour accuracy, audio quality, or print-ready specs are non-negotiable.
Yes. You can restrict access to a named list of email addresses, so only those specific people can open the transfer while it remains active. Anyone else who gets hold of the link will be turned away. This works on all plans and pairs well with expiry settings for handoffs where both timing and audience need to be controlled.
On Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plans, expired transfers can be recovered within set windows after expiry, including transfers that expired before you upgraded your plan. Free and Starter accounts cannot recover expired transfers. If recovery is available, you'll see a restore option in your Transfers panel. For files that are gone for good, you'd need to re-upload and resend.
