Share 3D files on your schedule

Upload your 3D assets and decide upfront how long the download link stays open. When your chosen window closes, access ends automatically, keeping your models and designs out of circulation the moment they've served their purpose.

Transfer expiration is in your hands

When sharing 3D models, CAD files, or renders, the handoff often has a natural endpoint: a client review wraps up, a production deadline passes, or a pitch cycle ends. WeTransfer lets you attach an expiry to any transfer before you send it, so the link closes on its own without you having to track it down later. Files are sent in their original quality, preserving mesh data, textures, and file structure exactly as you built them. For handoffs that need tighter control, you can add password protection or restrict access to a named list of email addresses, so your assets reach the right eyes for exactly the right amount of time. Recipients can also preview compatible formats directly in the browser before downloading, making version confirmation straightforward on both ends.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

WeTransfer supports any file type, including common 3D and CAD formats such as OBJ, FBX, STL, STEP, IGES, Blender files, Cinema 4D projects, and more. Files are transferred without compression or re-encoding, so geometry, textures, and embedded metadata arrive exactly as you exported them.

Before uploading, open the transfer options and choose how long you want the download link to stay active. On a free account, links expire after a maximum of 3 days. With an Ultimate plan or above, you can set any custom duration or keep the transfer available until you choose to delete it yourself.

Yes. Go to your Transfers panel, open the transfer, and adjust the expiration date from there. The change takes effect immediately, so if a client review runs long or wraps up early, you can extend or shorten the window without re-uploading anything.

Once a transfer expires, the download link stops working and the files are permanently removed from WeTransfer's servers. On Ultimate and above, you can enable the Recoverable option before sending, which allows you to restore an expired transfer within the recovery window if you need to share the files again.

Free accounts support transfers up to 3 GB. With an Ultimate plan or above, there is no per-transfer size limit, which makes it practical for large scenes, high-resolution renders, or complete project directories. You can also upload entire folders, and recipients will download them with the original folder structure intact.
