Know when your RAW photos have been downloaded

Sending RAW files to a client or collaborator is only half the job. WeTransfer shows you the download status of every transfer you send, so you know exactly when those high-resolution originals have been picked up, without chasing anyone for confirmation.

Keep tabs on your transfer's downloaders

Photographers sharing RAW files need to know the handoff actually happened, especially when delivering to clients on a deadline or submitting work for review. WeTransfer records download activity for every transfer, and your Transfers panel updates the moment someone collects the files. Send to multiple recipients by email and each person gets their own status, making it easy to spot who still needs a reminder. For deliveries where a clear record matters, enabling Access Control before you send requires anyone opening your link to verify their email address first, and you receive a notification each time a download takes place. If your RAW files are confidential or exclusive, Restricted downloads lets you tie the transfer to a named list of approved addresses so the images only reach the people you intended.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Open your Transfers panel after sending, and you will see a download status next to each transfer. For email transfers, each recipient's address shows its own status, so you can confirm at a glance whether your client has collected their RAW files or whether a follow-up nudge would help.

Basic download status is available for all senders without any extra setup. If you want a notification for each individual download, enable Access Control before sending, which requires anyone opening the link to verify their email address and sends you a detailed alert each time the files are accessed.

Yes. WeTransfer sends files in their original state with no re-encoding, compression, or resolution changes. Your RAW files, whether ARW, NEF, CR2, DNG, or any other format, arrive exactly as you uploaded them, preserving every bit of the original image data.

Restricted downloads lets you specify a list of email addresses before sending, and access is only granted to people on that list after they verify their identity. This keeps your unedited, high-value RAW files away from anyone outside your intended delivery, and you receive a notification each time one of your approved recipients downloads.

Yes. Recipients can view a browser-based preview of supported RAW formats, including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, and others, before deciding what to download. They can also leave comments on individual files directly in the preview, which is useful for collecting feedback or approval on specific shots without a separate round of emails.
