After you deliver a shoot, a cut, or a client package, you should not have to wonder whether it landed. WeTransfer records download activity on every transfer you send, and with email delivery each recipient is tracked separately so you know exactly who picked up your files.
Keep tabs on your transfer's downloaders
Photographers and videographers often work to tight deadlines where confirmed delivery is just as important as the work itself. WeTransfer updates your Transfers panel the moment someone downloads your files, giving you a clear record without needing to send a chasing message. When you want a fuller picture of who accessed a link, enabling Access Control before you send asks every downloader to verify their email address first, and you receive a notification each time a download happens. For deliveries meant for one client only, Restricted downloads ties access to a named list of email addresses, so raw files, final edits, and licensed images reach only the people they were intended for. Your files arrive exactly as uploaded too, with no recompression and no resolution loss, so the quality your client sees matches what you delivered.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Open your Transfers panel and find the relevant transfer. For email transfers, each recipient shows a separate download status, and hovering over the checkmark reveals the exact date and time they collected the files. If you sent via a shareable link, the panel shows an overall downloaded or not-yet-downloaded status so you always have a current read on your delivery.
Basic download status is visible in your Transfers panel for every transfer you send without any setup. For more detailed tracking, where anyone who opens your link must verify their email address before downloading and you receive a notification each time, you enable Access Control in the transfer settings before hitting send. It only takes a moment to switch on and makes a real difference for client deliveries.
For email transfers, each recipient is tracked separately, so you can see at a glance which contacts have downloaded and which have not. If you shared a link rather than sending by email, enabling Tracked downloads under Access Control means every person who opens the link must verify their address first, and you receive an individual notification for each download along with the downloader's email.
Yes. Before sending, enable Restricted downloads in the Access Control settings and add the specific email addresses you want to allow. When someone opens the transfer link, they have to verify their email address, and access is only granted if it matches your approved list. This is especially useful for exclusive galleries, licensed image sets, or final video deliveries that are meant for one recipient only.
WeTransfer does not compress, re-encode, or alter your files in any way during transfer. RAW formats, high-resolution JPEGs, 4K and higher video files, and layered design files all arrive at the other end bit-for-bit identical to what you uploaded. Recipients can also preview supported image, video, and audio files in the browser before downloading, so clients can confirm they have the right version before saving anything to their device.
