Sending a file through WeTransfer doesn't mean losing sight of it. Your Transfers panel records download activity for everything you send, and when you deliver by email, each recipient gets their own status so you can confirm delivery without chasing anyone down.
Keep tabs on your transfer's downloaders
For anyone sending documents, design files, or proposals to clients, knowing whether something was actually opened matters. WeTransfer logs download activity for every transfer right inside your account, giving you a running record of what was picked up and when. Email transfers go a step further, showing a per-recipient status that updates the moment each person downloads, along with the precise time it happened. For a more active layer of visibility, you can enable Access Control before sending: anyone who opens your link verifies their email address first, and you get a notification each time a download occurs. When the wrong hands getting access is a real concern, Restricted downloads lets you tie a transfer to a named list of email addresses, so the files go only to the people you chose.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Go to the Transfers panel in your account and open any sent transfer. Each transfer shows a download status, and for email deliveries you get a per-recipient view with a checkmark next to each address once they download. Hover over the checkmark to see the exact date and time it happened.
Basic download status is visible automatically for every transfer you send, with no setup required. If you want detailed, per-download notifications with email verification, you need to enable Access Control (Tracked downloads) in the transfer settings before you hit send. That extra step is what triggers individual notifications each time someone accesses your files.
Yes. Link transfers show a download status in your Transfers panel, and you receive one confirmation email the first time the transfer is fully downloaded. For more granular tracking on a link transfer, enable Tracked downloads under Access Control, which requires anyone opening the link to verify their email address before downloading, and sends you a notification for each download.
Restricted downloads is an Access Control option you enable before sending. It locks the transfer to a specific list of email addresses, so only the people you name can open and save the files. It is especially useful for contracts, client deliverables, or any transfer where you need to make sure the files do not reach unintended recipients. You can edit the access list after sending from the transfer details page.
Download status is visible for any transfer that is still active in your account. For transfers that have already expired, recovery is available to Ultimate, Teams, and Enterprise plan subscribers. Free plan users cannot recover expired transfers, so past download history for those is no longer accessible once a transfer expires.
