Did your design files land? Now you'll know.

WeTransfer logs download activity for every transfer you send. Whether you're delivering brand assets, mockups, or final artwork, your Transfers panel shows you what's been picked up, and email deliveries give each recipient their own status so you can confirm without following up blind.

Send your first transfer

Keep tabs on your transfer's downloaders

Sending design files to a client or collaborator is only half the job. WeTransfer records download activity across all your transfers, giving you a clear view of what's been received and what hasn't moved yet. For email transfers, the status updates per person the moment they download, so if you sent final assets to a team of reviewers, you can see exactly who has them. If you want closer visibility, enabling Access Control means anyone who opens your transfer link first verifies their email, and you receive a notification each time a download happens. For sensitive creative work, Restricted downloads goes further, limiting access to a named list of email addresses so your source files, brand guidelines, or unreleased concepts reach only the people they're intended for.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Open your Transfers panel and find the relevant transfer. For email transfers, each recipient shows an individual download status, and hovering over the checkmark tells you the exact date and time they downloaded. For link transfers, you'll see a general downloaded or not-yet-downloaded indicator.

Access Control adds a layer of verified tracking on top of the standard download status. When you enable Tracked downloads before sending, anyone who opens your link must verify their email address first, and you receive a detailed notification each time a download occurs. For client handoffs or sensitive creative work, that audit trail can be genuinely useful.

Yes. The Restricted downloads option lets you tie a transfer to a named list of email addresses, so only those recipients can access it after verifying their identity. This is particularly useful for unreleased brand assets, confidential pitch decks, or source files you don't want circulating beyond a specific team.

No. WeTransfer transfers files in their original quality with no re-encoding, compression, or resolution changes. Whether you're sending layered PSDs, high-resolution print files, or CAD exports, what your recipient downloads is exactly what you uploaded.

Recipients can preview certain file types, including PSD and PSB files, directly in the browser without downloading first. They can also leave comments on individual files and mark favorites, making WeTransfer a practical way to share work for review. Files are displayed at a slightly lower resolution in preview, with the full original available on download.
