Healthcare workflows rely on clear, traceable communication around documents, images, and reports. WeTransfer lets clinical and administrative teams share files for review, receive file-level comments from recipients inside the browser, and update transfer details at any point after sending, without asking collaborators to download anything or create an account.
Collaborate on every transfer
When healthcare professionals share patient forms, medical imaging exports, clinical reports, or compliance documents for review, feedback needs to stay connected to the exact file it refers to. WeTransfer lets recipients open a transfer in the browser, leave comments on individual files, and mark favorites, so a note about a specific scan export or a question on a policy page stays anchored to that file rather than drifting into a separate email thread. You receive a notification each time a new comment is added, giving you a clear view of where a review stands without chasing respondents. From the transfer detail page, you can rename the transfer, revise its description, adjust comment settings, or tighten access controls at any time after sending, with no need to re-upload files. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on EU servers, and WeTransfer is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR-compliant, all relevant foundations for teams handling sensitive health information.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Recipients open the transfer in their browser, preview supported file types including PDFs, images, and videos, and leave comments on individual files without downloading anything or creating a WeTransfer account. They just need to enter their name and email address before commenting. This is practical for external clinical consultants, partner hospitals, or administrative staff who may not have accounts on shared platforms.
WeTransfer supports browser preview and commenting on PDFs, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and a range of RAW image formats, as well as MP4 and MOV video files and common document types like DOC, DOCX, PPT, and XLSX. For healthcare teams this covers clinical reports, policy documents, training materials, exported imaging studies in compatible formats, and presentation decks. Files are sent in their original quality with no re-encoding or resolution loss.
When creating a transfer you can enable Restricted downloads, which limits access to a specific list of email addresses. Anyone who opens the link must verify their email, and access is granted only if they match your list. You can also add password protection so recipients need a code you share separately before they can view the files. Both controls can be adjusted from the transfer detail page after sending.
Yes. From the transfer detail page in your account you can rename the transfer, edit its description, and change whether comments are allowed, all without re-uploading the files. Disabling comments hides existing ones from viewers but does not delete them, so you can re-enable them later and the full comment thread is restored. This flexibility is useful when a document moves from open review to a locked final state.
WeTransfer is GDPR-compliant and based in the EU, with files stored on AWS servers in Ireland and encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256. The platform is ISO 27001 certified and Data Processing Agreements are available for business plan customers, which is relevant for healthcare organizations operating under GDPR or similar frameworks. WeTransfer does not sell files, share them with third parties, or use them to train AI models. Note that WeTransfer is not HIPAA-certified, so teams with US-specific regulatory requirements should review their compliance obligations separately.
