Yes. When comments are enabled on a transfer, anyone with access can open the browser preview and leave a comment directly on each file without downloading it or creating a WeTransfer account. They simply enter a name and email address to post, and you receive an email notification for every comment that comes in. This keeps feedback tied to the exact file it refers to, which is particularly useful when sharing multi-document packages like audit workpapers or consulting reports.
WeTransfer's browser preview supports a broad range of formats relevant to consulting and audit professionals, including PDFs, Word documents (DOC and DOCX), Excel spreadsheets (XLS and XLSX), PowerPoint presentations (PPT and PPTX), CSV files, images, and audio. Recipients can browse and comment on each file before deciding what to download, rather than pulling the entire transfer to their desktop first.
Go to the transfer details page in your Transfers panel, scroll to Extra settings, expand the Comments section, and choose your preferred option. Disabling comments hides existing ones from viewers without deleting them, so if you re-enable comments later, the previous feedback is restored. Yes. From your Sent panel, hover over the transfer and click Edit title, or open the transfer detail page and select Edit title from there. You can also update the description and other settings like expiry date, password, and comment permissions without having to re-upload anything. Every WeTransfer plan includes password protection and a restricted access option that limits downloads to a list of specific email addresses. When restricted access is enabled, anyone opening the link must verify their email against your access list before they can view or download the files. You can edit the access list after sending from the transfer detail page, and changes take effect immediately. For audit and consulting work involving sensitive client information, combining both password protection and restricted access gives you two independent checkpoints before anyone can reach the files.
