WeTransfer lets developers and teams send code files and collect comments directly on each file in the browser. Reviewers can open the transfer, leave notes on individual files, and mark favorites without installing anything or creating an account, while you keep full control over the transfer and its settings from your account.
Collaborate on every transfer
When you send code files for review, feedback scattered across reply-all emails makes it hard to trace which comment belongs to which file or version. WeTransfer lets recipients open your transfer in the browser and comment on individual files, so notes stay attached to the actual work rather than drifting into a separate thread. You get an email notification each time a new comment is added, which makes it easy to follow input from multiple reviewers as a pull request or code review cycle unfolds. From the transfer detail page you can rename the transfer, update its description, and adjust commenting permissions at any point after sending, useful when a hotfix or new build supersedes what you originally shared. For proprietary source code or internal tooling, password protection and the option to restrict access to a specific list of email addresses are available on every plan.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

All your questions answered.
Yes. Recipients can open your transfer in the browser preview and comment on individual files without downloading anything or creating a WeTransfer account. They just need to enter their name and email address if they are not logged in. You receive an email notification each time a new comment is posted, so feedback from the whole team stays visible and tied to the file it refers to.
WeTransfer's browser preview supports a range of common file formats including plain text files such as TXT, documents such as DOC and DOCX, PDFs, and common spreadsheet formats. For code-specific files like .js, .py, .ts, or .html, wrapping them in a ZIP archive is a reliable way to transfer them intact, and recipients can choose to download only the files they need after reviewing the transfer details.
Go to your Transfers panel, open the transfer, scroll to Extra settings, and expand the Comments section to change the setting. Disabling comments hides existing notes from viewers but does not delete them, so re-enabling will bring them back. This gives you a clean way to close a review round while preserving the feedback record.
Yes. From the transfer detail page you can rename the transfer and edit its description at any point after sending. This is handy when a patch or updated build supersedes the version already in your colleagues' hands, so the transfer name reflects what is actually inside without needing to re-upload.
You can restrict access to a specific list of email addresses directly from the transfer settings. Anyone who opens the link will need to verify their email, and access is only granted if they match your list. You can also lock the transfer with a password as an additional layer, and both options are available on every WeTransfer plan.
