Leave comments on shared files without the chaos

WeTransfer lets recipients open and comment on individual files right in the browser, no downloads or third-party review tools needed. Whether you are sharing images, PDFs, audio, or design files, feedback lands exactly where it belongs, tied to the specific file it refers to.

Collaborate on every transfer

Getting useful feedback on shared files usually means chasing replies across email threads and chat messages, with no clear link between a comment and the file it was about. With WeTransfer, anyone who receives your transfer can preview supported files in the browser and leave comments on each one, keeping all the notes in one place and attached to the right content. You get an email notification every time someone comments, so there is no need to nudge collaborators or wonder whether anyone has looked. From the transfer detail page in your account, you can update the title, description, expiry date, and comment settings at any point after the transfer has gone out. Recipients can also mark individual files as favorites, giving you a quick signal on what resonated before a single file has been downloaded.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

Once you share a transfer, recipients can open the preview in their browser and click on any supported file to access the comment field. They do not need a WeTransfer account to comment, they just enter their name and email address when prompted. You receive an email notification each time a new comment is posted, so feedback comes to you automatically.

Commenting is available on any file that can be previewed in the browser. Supported types include JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, PSD and RAW formats, MP4 and MOV video up to 300 MB, MP3 and WAV audio up to 300 MB, PDF, and common Office document formats. If a file type is not supported for preview, recipients can still download it directly from the transfer page.

Yes. Go to your transfer detail page, scroll to Extra settings, expand the Comments section, and switch the setting to your preference. Turning comments off hides any existing comments from recipients but does not delete them, so re-enabling will bring them back. The change takes effect immediately without resending anything.

Recipients can edit or delete the comments they posted themselves. As the transfer owner, you can delete any comment from anyone on your transfer. Comments are only visible to people who have access to the transfer, so password-protected or restricted transfers keep the discussion contained to the right audience.

Yes, the transfer detail page lets you rename the transfer, update the description, change the expiry date, toggle password protection, and adjust comment settings all in one place, even after the transfer has been sent. Changes take effect immediately, though recipients are not automatically notified of updates to settings, so let them know directly if anything time-sensitive has changed.
