Uploading made effortless

Photographers sharing RAW files need a transfer tool that keeps up with how they actually work, not one that adds steps between the shoot and the handoff. Pull your ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, or any other RAW format off your desktop and drop them onto WeTransfer — uploading begins the moment the files land on the page. Every file arrives in its original state: no re-encoding, no resolution loss, no changes to the raw sensor data your editing software needs. Recipients can preview images in the browser before downloading, so they can pick exactly which files they want rather than pulling down the entire transfer. You can also lock any transfer behind a password or restrict access to a specific set of email addresses, which is useful when handing off a client shoot or sharing work before licensing is settled.

FAQs

All your questions answered.

WeTransfer accepts any file type, so every RAW format uploads without issue — including ARW, NEF, CR2, CR3, DNG, RAF, RW2, ORF, HEIC, HEIF, and TIFF. You are not limited to particular camera brands or proprietary formats. Drop them onto the page alongside any companion files, like XMP sidecars or PSD edits, and they all go together in one transfer.

No. WeTransfer transfers files in their original state, with no re-encoding, no resolution changes, and no modifications to the raw sensor data. What you drop onto the page is exactly what your recipient downloads, which matters when they need to open the files in Lightroom, Capture One, or any other editing application.

Recipients can preview JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, and processed image formats directly in the browser without downloading. For most RAW formats, in-browser preview is not available, but recipients can still see the file list, check individual file sizes, and choose to download only the shots they need rather than the full transfer. They can also leave comments on any previewable file, which makes feedback on selects easier.

Yes. You can upload entire folders, and WeTransfer preserves the original structure when the recipient downloads. So if you have organized your shoot into subfolders by location, camera body, or time of day, everything arrives exactly as you arranged it. The recipient unpacks one download and finds the same hierarchy you exported.

You have two options. Adding a password means only people who know it can open the transfer — share the password with your client separately. Enabling restricted access lets you specify one or more email addresses, so only those recipients can download the files after verifying their identity. Both are available on all plans and can be set before you send or adjusted afterward from your transfers panel.
