No account is needed on the receiving end. Anyone with the download link can open it in their browser, preview supported files like images, video, audio, and PDFs directly on the page, and download what they need without signing up or installing anything. This makes sharing with clients, collaborators, or anyone outside your organization genuinely frictionless.
WeTransfer accepts any file type, including videos, images, PDFs, audio, design files, 3D and CAD files, Office documents, ZIP archives, and more. On a free account you can send up to 3 GB per transfer. On Ultimate and above there is no per-transfer size cap, so large project folders or high-resolution video deliverables go through as-is, with no re-encoding or quality loss at any stage.
WeTransfer gives you a few layers of control. You can add a password before or after sending, so only people with the password can access the files. You can also enable restricted access, which limits downloads to a specific list of email addresses you define. Download tracking is available on all plans too, letting you see exactly who downloaded your transfer and when, once you enable it.
On free accounts, transfers expire after up to 3 days. On Ultimate and above, you can set a custom expiry date or keep transfers active indefinitely. If a transfer does expire, Ultimate subscribers can recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before they upgraded, as long as the transfer is within the recovery window. Free account holders cannot recover expired transfers.
WeTransfer works well for both. Individual users can send, track, and manage transfers from a personal account, with branding options available on Ultimate. For teams, the Teams plan adds a shared workspace with up to 50 members, shared storage, centralized billing, shared branding, and admin controls so one person can oversee all transfers. Enterprise extends that further with SSO, unlimited members, and custom configurations for larger organizations.
