Email attachments cap out fast, and anything beyond a small document becomes a problem before you even hit send. WeTransfer gives every file its own download link, works for any file type, and asks nothing of the person receiving it.
Why choose WeTransfer
If you've ever had an email bounce back because of a file that was too large, or watched a video arrive blurry because your email client recompressed it, you already know the limitations. WeTransfer handles files of any type through a browser-based transfer, so videos, design files, audio, and full folder structures arrive exactly as you uploaded them, with no re-encoding and no quality loss. Every transfer generates a shareable download link that works anywhere you can paste it, and recipients can open their files directly in the browser without creating an account or installing anything. You can add a password, see when someone downloads, or restrict access to a named list of email addresses when the contents are sensitive. For anyone sending regularly, paid plans bring per-transfer branding, custom expiry settings, and tools that work at team scale.
Our features are designed to minimize how much of your data we — or anyone else — can access, so you can keep what's yours, yours.

Email attachments are processed by mail servers on both ends, which means size limits, occasional compression, and delivery failures for anything substantial. WeTransfer uploads your file once to its own servers and gives you a download link, so the file travels directly to whoever you share that link with, completely intact. Recipients click through and download without needing an account, and you keep a record of who downloaded and when.
Yes. WeTransfer does not re-encode, compress, or alter your files at any point in the transfer process. A 4K video, a layered Photoshop file, or a high-resolution PDF arrives byte-for-byte as you uploaded it. What you send is exactly what they receive.
Recipients can preview images, video, audio, and PDFs directly in the browser before downloading a single file, which is handy when you want them to check the right version before committing to a large download. They can also comment on individual files and mark favorites, all without creating a WeTransfer account. The preview displays at a slightly reduced resolution so they can make an informed choice about what to download.
On the Free plan, transfers are available for up to 3 days. Ultimate plan users can set a custom expiry or keep a transfer active indefinitely, and can also recover expired transfers, including ones that expired before they upgraded to a paid plan. Free plan transfers that expire are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
Link transfers have no recipient limit, so you can share the URL with as many people as you need. If you'd prefer to deliver files directly to specific inboxes instead, email transfers support up to 10 recipients on a free account and up to 50 on paid plans. You can also restrict a link so that only people on a named list of email addresses can access it, which is useful for anything confidential.
