When you create a transfer on WeTransfer Ultimate, you'll see options to upload a custom background image or set a background color, and to add a written description alongside your files. You set this individually per transfer, so a wedding gallery can have a different look and message from a commercial shoot delivery. Recipients see the branded presentation the moment they open the link, before they download anything.
No. WeTransfer sends files in their original format with no compression and no re-encoding, so RAW files, high-resolution TIFFs, ProRes exports, and 4K video land exactly as you saved them. The zip packaging WeTransfer uses for multi-file downloads is lossless, meaning no pixel data or metadata is touched in the process.
Yes. Recipients can open the transfer in any browser and view images, video, audio, and PDF files directly on the page without downloading first. They can choose to download only the files they need rather than the entire transfer, and they can leave comments or mark favorites on individual files, which makes feedback rounds much smoother. No WeTransfer account is needed on their end.
You have two controls you can apply, separately or together. Restricted access limits the download link to a list of specific email addresses you specify, so only those recipients can open the transfer after verifying their email. Password protection adds a separate code that recipients must enter before accessing the files. For sensitive shoots, combining both gives you tight control over who sees the work.
On Ultimate, you choose the expiry yourself: you can set a specific date or keep a transfer active indefinitely so a client can return to it weeks later. If a transfer does expire, Ultimate users can recover it within the recovery window, including transfers that expired before you upgraded. Free and Starter transfers expire after a maximum of 3 days and cannot be recovered.
